Brian Mattick and Keith Bell are compiling a new climbing
guide to Blue Lake with the support of the CCA. Blue Lake is a
traditional climbing (no bolts) area situated on the Main
Range of Kosciuszko National Park. Canberra and Sydney
climbers have had a long association with the area dating back to
the early 1960s.

Blue Lake offers some of the best traditional granite
climbing to be found in the Canberra and South East NSW Region. An
abundance of cracklines and fissures provide plenty of natural
protection opportunities in an alpine setting.

Blue Lake is also one of the few areas in Australia where you
can do snow and ice climbing in the winter. Numerous snow and
ice variations can be found in the gullys and on the ice flows
during the winter months.

If you have any information on climbs or photos of the area it
would be greatly appreciated if you send your stuff to
Keith and Brian at: jkbell@homemail.com.au
