Blue Lake in Kosciuszko National Park is a rare and beautiful cirque lake, one of only four in mainland Australia.  It has some of the clearest waters of any Australian lake, and the area nearby provides some wonderful traditional climbing and the only ice climbing/alpine climbing area in Australia.

A climbing guide for rockclimbs in the Kosciuszko area (including Blue Lake) was first produced in 1971, and a revised and updated edition of this guide was created by Craig Kentwell in 1989:

Launch of the 2012 Blue Lake climbing guide

The 2012 climbing guide produced by long-time CCA member Brian Mattick had a very well-attended launch in Canberra at The Kingston Hotel on 25 July 2012, with numerous CCA members purchasing a signed copy. One member was heard to remark that the only disappointing thing was having to wait out the snow to try out all the routes in the guide!
